The StFX Students’ Union is looking to hire Conduct Advocates for the 2026/27 school year.

Terms Of Reference:
Position Title: Conduct Advocate (non-academic)
Reports to: VP Campus Affairs
General:
1.Term of Position:
August until April 30th
2.Eligibility:
Any current student enrolled at StFX who meets the requirements as outlined in the bylaws and policies of the Union.
3.Hiring/Appointment Process:
Hiring will take place in the spring of each year
The hiring panel will consist of: Incoming Campus Affairs, One (1) Board of Director
The hiring panel will make an offer of position to the successful candidate no later than 48 hours after the committee has reached consensus.
4.Compensation/Benefits:
Conduct Advocate will receive minimum wage at an hourly rate for compensation.
5.Hours:
Conduct Advocates may work up to 6 hours per week for 26 weeks during the term of their employment. Management of those hours will be between the conduct advocate and the VP Campus Affairs.
Responsibilities:
The Student Advocates shall be responsible for the care and effective management of the Student Advocate Office. This includes but is not limited to leaving personal student information, written or digital, in accessible locations.
The Student Advocates will focus on assisting students with disciplinary issues within the St.FX University Community Code of Conduct.
The Student Advocates are responsible for receiving and booking their own appointments via the Students’ Union website.
The Student Advocates will also assist students will the University Conduct Appeal or Discipline hearings and must have an understanding of how those processes work.
The Student Advocates will seek consultation, when necessary, from the Student Life Office, or other appropriate University departments.
The Student Advocates will receive training in August/September of each year organized by the University Student Life Office. Attendance at this training is mandatory for this position. Student Advocates may not meet with students until they have received this training.
The Student Advocates shall be responsible for working with students on specific issues being levied against them by the University via the Community Code. Student Advocates are not lawyers and should never present or be perceived as such.
The Student Advocates shall meet with the VP Campus Affairs as directed to provide and update on workload, job satisfaction, or issues with the office space. These meetings will not include any disclosure of personal information about students utilizing the Student Advocate service.
The Student Advocates will not disclose any personal or private information they receive about students seeking support from the Student Advocate Office.
