I’m Ready To Know

I’m Ready to Know is a national program that is implementing, scaling-up, and evaluating low-barrier options for access to HIV self-testing. Their goal is reaching the undiagnosed and give people choices about how to connect to the care they need. Their vision is for everyone in Canada to have access to HIV testing and support.

I’m Ready to Know is one of the programs part of the I AM Initiative. I AM is a national grass-roots initiative to raise awareness and action about getting tested for HIV to know your status and take steps to stay healthy.

The StFX Students’ Union is partnering with the I’m Ready to Know program to help students get access to sexual health information about HIV and testing. The Student Union is an authorized distribution site for HIV self-testing kits in Nova Scotia. There are three pickup points on campus, all in the Bloomfield Centre:

How to claim a kit?

1. The first step is to download the “I’m Ready, Test” app on your phone

2. Next, you will be asked to review the terms of use, provide informed consent, create a profile, and complete the pre-test survey (this will take 5-10 minutes). Don’t worry, the app won’t ask for your personal information, all you need is to set up a secure profile and a PIN.

3. Once this is done, you will be prompted to order a kit. Once you order your kit, you can select your distribution method as delivery or pick up from a participating location.

   • When prompted “Which of the I’m Ready pickup locations do you intend to pickup your test kits from” select Nova Scotia and St. Francis Xavier University – Student Union from the dropdown menu

4. For picking up a self-test kit, arrive at the pick-up location, show the “claim code” in the menu tab of the app and claim the kits that you need.

Remember, each student gets
up to 3 kits during the year.
