JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Security for the Golden X Inn can expect to work anywhere from one to three shifts per week.

  • Security at the Golden X Inn will be expected to handle the care and safety of all guests, inside and outside of the bar. 

  • Security for the Golden X Inn will be responsible for accurately checking IDs of all students and guests (training will be provided).

  • Security must be able to multi-task and work together as part of a team.

  • Security members must be able to hold themselves up to a high standard when they are called upon, and when they are needed to step in to a sometimes uncomfortable situation

  • Growth within the organization is encouraged, and cross training to different positions will be available to those who prove themselves in their role.

  • First Aid training is encouraged.

  • Security experience is a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The Security Coordinator will be responsible for managing the security staff of The Golden X Inn (GXI) on a nightly basis.

  • The Security Coordinator will be required to build a relationship with X-Patrol and have an open line of communication with them.

  • The Security Coordinator will be required to assist bar staff and security staff with handling the care and safety of all guests. 

  • The Security Coordinator may be required to assist with HR matters for The Golden X Inn (GXI) team.

  • The Security Coordinator will be required to assist in all facets of managing, hiring and training new security staff. 

  • First Aid training is encouraged.

  • Security (and/or) Management experience is a plus.

General:

  • Term of Position: August 2026 – April 30th, 2027.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a current STFX student in good academic and student conduct standing.

Hiring/Appointment Process:

  • Shall be hired by: VP Finance and Operations; and Students’ Union Marketing Manager.

  • Will be required to sign a contract outlining terms of employment and a confidentiality agreement with the Students’ Union due to the access to confidential information.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • This position will be paid at the SU student manager rate of $17.20 per hour.

  • This position will have office space provided on 1st Floor Bloomfield.

Hours:

  • August 2025: May work up to 15 hours per week, schedule to be determined by the Students’ Union Marketing Manager.

  • September 2025 – April 2026: May work up to 6 hours per week, schedule to be determined by the Students’ Union Marketing Manager.

Requirements:

  • 1 year experience working with Squarespace Website Hosting

  • Must have CSS experience.

  • Must have HTML experience.

  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Suite Administration

Responsibilities:

  1. The SU Website Coordinator will meet bi-weekly with the SU Marketing Manager for support and guidance on weekly goals and expectations.

  2. The SU Website Coordinator will be tasked with:

  • Interfacing with each SU service and operations for staff changes, hours of operation changes and any other updates as needed throughout the year.

  • Updating all SU website pages.

  • Revitalize the Calendar of Events function.

  • Review all appointment booking systems within the Students’ Union.

  • Assist with the transition of Students Union Microsoft accounts.

  • Review and implement new ticket purchases options.

  • Work with Xaverian Weekly News, and CFXU Radio Station on updating and recommendations for their web presence.

  • Attend weekly Marketing Meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Powers:

  1. Will be given administrator access to the Students’ Union website to make the changes that are requested by the Students’ Union.

Limitations:

  1. Will not be given the power to make changes to the Students’ Union website without the direction of the Students’ Union Marketing Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The Orientation Co-Chairs will be responsible to attend the First Week Committee meetings beginning from the time they are selected. If residing out of area during the summer months, they will be responsible for reading over the meeting minutes and forwarding any comments, questions or recommendations to the First Week Committee.

  • The Orientation Co-Chairs are responsible for regular communication and consultation with each other and the VP-Activities and Events including but not limited to:

    • Bi-weekly conference calls during the summer months

    • Weekly emailing with updates, recommendations, tasks completed and any questions.

    • Monthly on-campus meeting (if residing in close proximity to St. FX)

  • The Orientation Co-Chairs shall be responsible for the development, maintenance and effective management of the Students’ Union Orientation Week.

  • The Orientation Co-Chairs shall modify and update the structure of the Orientation Executive team and Orientation Crew including but not limited to position descriptions and contracts.

  • The Orientation Co-Chairs shall select the Orientation Executive and assist with the selection of the Orientation Crew. The selection process will consist of a formal application and interview. The formal application and interview process will be created by the Orientation Co-Chairs with consultation and approval from the Vice President: Activities and Events.

  • The Orientation Co-Chairs shall work in conjunction with the Vice President: Activities and Events and First Week Committee in order to devise an internal (Orientation Crew) and external (First Year Students) schedule for Orientation Week.

  • The Orientation Co-Chairs shall attend and oversee the execution of all Orientation Week activities and events including the supervision of the Orientation Executive and Orientation Crew.

  • The Orientation Co-Chairs shall lead daily Orientation Crew meetings during Orientation Week to assign any additional tasks for the day, go over the updated internal and external schedules and get the Orientation Crew motivated for the day ahead. These meetings should be scheduled prior to the start of the week

Students' Union | Society Coordinator

The StFX Students’ Union is hiring a Society Coordinator for the 2026/27 school year.

Society Coordinator

  1. The Society Coordinator shall be responsible for overseeing the operations of and effective management of all Student Societies, in conjunction with the VP Campus Affairs.

  2. The Society Coordinator shall organize Society Night with the assistance of the Events Coordinator; to be held in September and January of each academic year.

  3. The Society Coordinator shall be responsible for ensuring that all required documentation necessary for ratification of Student Societies is available to interested parties.

  4. The Society Coordinator will ensure that Societies have submitted all necessary forms and have been approved by the Society Review Committee. The Society Coordinator will bring approved societies to the earliest meeting of the Board of Directors before the end of September for society ratification.

  5. The Society Coordinator shall be responsible for assisting the VP Finance and Operations in ensuring that all ratified Student Societies receive all documents required to submit an allocation request for Society funding.

  6. The Society Coordinator shall be responsible for the organization and creation of the Society Handbook when the current edition becomes partially or fully irrelevant. The Society Handbook must be edited and updated at the beginning of every year, and submitted by September 30th.

  7. The Society Coordinator shall be responsible for the planning and execution of the Society President training session, held each academic year in September. Society members must be given, at minimum, two weeks notice. The Society Coordinator must ensure the information given at Society President Training is shared with societies that are ratified throughout the academic year.

  8. The Society Coordinator shall act as a liaison between the Society Presidents and the VP Campus Affairs voicing the concerns of the Society Presidents.

  9. The Society Coordinator shall act as an intermediary between the Golden X Inn Bar Manager and Societies in relation to Coat Check opportunities at the Golden X Inn.

  10. The Society Coordinator shall have check-ins, as needed, with the VP Campus Affairs throughout the entire academic year.

  11. Other duties as assigned.

  • The Student Bar Managers may be asked to assist in planning events for the bar.

  • The Student Bar Managers may be required to assist with HR matters for The Golden X Inn (GXI) team.
