The StFX Students Union is Seeking an Academic Advocate for the 2025-26 school year

Our Academic Advocates specialize in the Academic Integrity Policy as well as the Academic Calendar in order to help support and provide resources to any student through the Academic Appeals process. They are able to assist students whether they are submitting a formal appeal, facing an issue with academic integrity, or appealing a grade they received in class, they are here to guide and support through the process. 


We encourage applications from members of groups that have been historically disadvantaged and marginalized, including Indigenous persons, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, those who identify as women and/or 2SLGBTQIA+ and any others who would contribute to the diversity of our community.

Academic Advocate

  1. The Academic Advocate focus on being a support and resource for students that are undergoing the academic appeal process through one of the two academic streams (Grade or Formal Appeal). They must have a full understanding of the Academic Calendar, Academic Integrity Policy, the Academic Program of Excellence at X program (APEX), and both streams of the Academic Penalties and Academic Appeals process.
  2. The Academic Advocates will seek consultation where necessary from the Manager of the Academic Success Center and Academic Integrity Advisor, the University Registrar, as well as University Administrators and Faculty members. They will work with these departments to help accomplish their required tasks and research.
  3. The Academic Advocates must have a full understanding of the Academic Calendar and the students' rights. Through this understanding, they will inform the student of their rights and obligations as instructed under the Academic Calendar. The Advocates will also provide students will any information requested regarding the Academic Calendar and its guidelines.
  4. The Academic Advocate will meet with the Vice President Academic following any appeal process and may meet with them following consultation with a student to discuss the decision and process to ensure there is communication and an acknowledgement of where there is room for improvement.
  5. The Academic Advocates shall perform other duties as designated by the Vice President Academic Affairs.
