About X-Fest!
X-Fest is the official welcome celebration of the arrival of all new students to X by the Students Union (The U). It is a series of events that occurs in conjunction with the University’s Welcome Week whose focus is to bring students together, boost student engagement, and build connections through fun, safe, inclusive, informative, and dry (no drugs and non-alcohol) events. X-Fest serves as the formal introduction to the Student Union to students where we can show them the X spirit we are all so proud of and help them feel like StFX is their home away from home!
Access to X-Fest events are managed through ownership of an X-Fest Wristband, which is a part of the X-Fest Kits, purchased in the middle of the summer. X-Kits also include some memorable, useful, and sustainable swag, informational handouts that The U feels new students would benefit from, and products from sponsors of X-Fest! Most X-Fest events are ticketed ones where students need either their X-Fest Kit Wristband which gets them into all events or they can buy a separate ticket for that one specific event.

X-photo & Cheer-Off
X-Fest kicks off with everyone coming down to the football field in their House Shirts and receiving a Welcome message from the Students Union! Afterwards, the students are arranged by house in a Giant X for a photo and the cheer off! Let the fun begin!
Headphone Disco! ⭐️
This X-Fest must-have features three competing DJs to amp up your X-perience! With the click of a button you can choose the track you like best and dance the night away with your new friends!
Playfair ⭐️
Playfair is hands down the perfect way to connect and meet with your new classmates. Entering it’s 33rd consecutive year at StFX Playfair has become an Orientation Week staple for countless generations of Xaverians. Made up of a series of energetic ice breaker style games, this night is one of the best ways to get out of your comfort zone.
Waterpark Day! ⭐️
Waterpark day is a historic part of O-Week! Among many other attractions, this event was recently upgraded to feature not one, but TWO Jell-O Slides. Featuring a mixture of jello, soap and a whole lot of fun, students will be given the opportunity to take a slippery ride to the bottom!
Mentalist ⭐️
Prepare to have your mind blown by our mentalist show! Every year, this mind-boggling experience is a crowd favourite among our X-fest events!
Charity Day!
Charity Day is a chance for StFX students to give back to the community, we encourage all StFX students to participate and get involved! We will have stations all around Antigonish and New Glasgow, filled with cheering, singing, and dancing in an effort raise funds for local charities.
X-Fest Lineup! ⭐️
One of the biggest reveals leading up to Orientation Week is the headlining concert! StFX has been continuously recognized for putting on some of the premier shows in the maritimes, with past performers including the likes of Classified and The White Panda.
